Catz in the House

This funky shop is filled with super unique toys for babies and toddlers. You may find a toy you have never seen before, and that is the wonderful beauty of etsy!!
She uses very nice quality woods, and her wooden toys look so smooth, I just want to touch them!
Her bio is as follows...
"Hello everyone. I am the proud mother of five beautiful children, two cats . . . oh and one husband. My children are ages 10 (my only girl), 6, 4, 3, and 2. They are the light of my life. I create and sell so I can stay home with all my children but especially my little guy who has heart and lung disease with down syndrome, he is also often on oxygen. God has blessed us richly with this child and if given the chance will change anyone's heart that he meets. All of my children leave faithful imprints on the hearts of those they share their life with. I am truly blessed. In my spare time I love to crochet, quilt, bead, read, and photography because I have so much free time you know:):). Papa Cat does all the woodworking and enjoys making new designs of soap dishes and quilt blocks, he loves to do custom work. My goal for 2008 is to read my Bible from cover to cover not once, not twice, but three times. After losing my Mother this past year to cancer my faith has multiplied tremendously. I always had great faith but it is stronger than ever now. I know there is a God and heaven is very real. Haven't met God yet, been a stranger to Him lately? Find Him and get to know Him in the church of your choice today. God's Blessings be upon all of you by the blood of His Precious Son, Jesus Christ.

Pretty Girl Bows

This etsy seller really has it down to an art. She takes amazing pictures, makes very cute items in great color pallettes, and also has some of the cutes models :)
She has a wide variety of items too. They all look very well made, and it appears she takes pride in her work.
To learn more about her, here is her etsy profile:
"Hi, My name is Stacey. I am a stay at home mom to a beautiful daughter, Addalyn Grace. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful husband who works very hard so that I do not have to work full-time and can be at home with our daughter. After Addie was born, I began to develop an interest in hair bows and other girly things that had not interested me before. I started to love to dress Addie with cute bows in her hair, but I found many of the bows to be very expensive. So.....I learned how to make them myself. I found I really enjoyed this and began making them for friends, baby shower gifts, birthday gifts and just for fun. I have now decided to turn my love of bow making into something more than a hobby.(Hopefully!) Thanks for looking and I look forward to working with you!"

She seems like a great person, so please this local Illinoisan artist HERE...

Illinois Baby Accessory Street Team

A cool, new movement maybe started by etsy, is street teams. The street teams are sometimes divided by location, type of items people make, or other special interests. I believe it would be really fun to start a street team of our own, and maybe make out interests and companies more known. So, feel free to join our new Street Team at FLICKR...
Feel free to join us on flickr, and post your pictures in the group.

CPISA Law

This is an excerpt from a Yarn Guild who is fighting for the rights of craft producers and consumers in the United States found HERE:
"• In conclusion, all the test data gathered to date on products made from pre-dyed or un-dyed fibre, have
shown that consumer craft products sold and distributed in the US are essentially lead and phthalate free. While y p
materials and test data presented today has focused on the manufacturing of handknit products, all other
products made from natural or synthetic fibres would p yyield very similar results.
• We believe that consumer craft products manufactured anddistributedintheUSmarketstodayaresignificantlyand distributed in the US markets today are significantly
below the minimum lead and phthalates content levels established by the CPSIA 2008, and all consumer craft
productsshouldbeexempt fromtestingrequirementsproducts should be exempt from testing requirements."

Please feel free to input any further information you know, or links to helpful resources, as this may affect us all...

Welcome!

This blog will be a great resource for promoting people in Illinois who sew, craft, and create baby items and accessories. Each crafter who wants to be a part of this page will have a link to their shop on the side of the page, a great resource for helping get the word out about fun businesses in Illinois for wee ones. Anyone who wants to join is welcome, as long as they create things for babies.
